Global riser analysis methods are performed to determine the limits of operation for lightweight Subsea Intervention Lubricators (SIL) from small fast response monohull (or mini semi-sub) DP vessels. This also includes assessment of podlines with attached umbilicals.
Limits of SIL Operation
Although subsea wireline lubricators are riserless intervention systems with no riser pipe back to vessel, it is still important to understand the limits of operation when fully accounting for accidental conditions. Dynamically positioned vessels can go off station during an accidental loss of power and it important to understand the effect the attached lines have - in relation to structural integrity - if snagged on the subsea equipment.
A structural integrity assessment is also performed for maximum extreme storm conditions with the SIL abandoned - no lines attached.
