A specialist engineering consultancy which provides bespoke analysis and design services to the offshore oil and gas industry has reinforced its commitment to people development with the internal promotion of two employees.

Aberdeenshire-based AS Mosley has overseen the development of staff members Heshan Fernando and David Bolger to Senior Analysis Engineer roles after both started with the company in graduate positions.

Joining the company in 2008 and 2010 respectively, Heshan and David have both benefitted from a range of on the job training supplemented by a number of external training courses aimed at developing the skills and qualities required to be successful within the sector.

With both now in Senior Analysis Engineer roles, the pair currently lead analysis and design projects alongside working with a team of fellow engineers to successfully deliver solutions on behalf of clients within the oil and gas sector.

Consisting of a mix of engineering and project management work, both Heshan and David are responsible for overseeing projects from start to finish alongside ensuring solutions are delivered within expected time and cost constraints.

David’s development has been further recognised after he recently achieved chartered engineer status, with assessors praising his mix of internal and external training as a contributing factor. He said: “I am very pleased to have been promoted to the role of Senior Analysis Engineer and I’m grateful that my hard work and commitment to AS Mosley has been rewarded in this way.

“The team at AS Mosley has supported me along every step of the way, funding my attendance at numerous external training courses in addition to always being on-hand with help and advice within the workplace. This help has been instrumental in achieving chartered engineer status.

“I have gained considerable engineering experience in my time at AS Mosley which has helped build a solid foundation for my own personal development. This has allowed me to effectively step up to a senior role and I’m looking forward to playing a part in future success of the business.”

Heshan added: “AS Mosley has been very supportive in allowing me to develop my own skills throughout my time working for the company and I’m grateful for the help that I’ve had in allowing me to get where I am today.

“If I had one piece of advice for anyone thinking of stepping into the engineering sector, it would be to seriously consider pursuing a role within the oil and gas sector. There is opportunity to develop new technical methodologies and solutions, resulting in real contributions to the industry. My time within the sector has enabled me to develop new skills and gain experience working on what are often challenging and diverse projects.”
