Oyne school car kit project success

AS Mosley recently sponsored Oyne School’s electric car kit project which saw them take part in the Grampian Goblins Race Day at Grampian Transport Museum last week.

Oyne School car kit project

Oyne school children from P5, P6, and P7 took part in the project, where they competed against other primary school teams from across the North of Scotland.  It was the first time the school had taken part in the initiative, which is organised by Greenpower Education Trust.

Over a five week period, the children built an electric kit car from scratch, where they designed and built the body work, before driving their car at the final event on Friday 9th June.  Up against stiff competition, the school did well, narrowly missing out on third prize by just 0.21 seconds in the drag race section and making it to through to the semi-finals in the sprint race.

The project has been a great success for the school.  The children worked extremely hard and enjoyed every minute of the experience.

Over 5 weeks the project has involved curricular work in Literacy & English; Numeracy & Maths; Science; Social Subjects; Technologies; and Health & Wellbeing.  They have also developed the following 'Meta skills' important to Learning, Life and Work: Teamwork; Communication; Resilience; Self-management; problem solving; and creativity.

We loved being a part of this project and we're hoping it will inspire a few pupils to think about a career in engineering, as they progress in their learning journey.  We'll  look forward to seeing how next year's cohort get on. Well done to all involved.

Farewell to Richard

Our team got together at  Thainstone House to say farewell to Richard Robinson, who recently retired.

Richard joined AS Mosley in 2006 and has been an integral part of the team. Supporting us through growth, he’s played a crucial role in many of our more complex offshore projects. We’re very grateful to Richard for the knowledge and expertise he has shared with us over the years. Although he has officially retired, we secretly hope he’ll keep his hand in and continue to support us on an ad hoc basis.

Richard, thank you for all your efforts over the years. We wish you a very happy retirement!

AS Mosley wins prestigious innovation award

AS Mosley picks up Business & Product Innovation Award at Scottish FSB Awards 2023

Callum Methven and Andrew Mosley, AS Mosley

We are extremely proud to have won an award from the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) for Business & Product Innovation.

AS Mosley picked up the prestigious award yesterday (8th March) at the Voco Grand Hotel in Glasgow at a glitzy ceremony hosted by the FSB.

The award was given in recognition of developing WellScreen, and AS Mosley's involvement in Digital Twin technology.

WellScreen is a unique screening analysis tool that allows operators in the oil & gas industry to rapidly screen a number of wells at any one time. The tool tests for wellhead fatigue, and highlights wells needing more detailed analysis. The Digital Twin work was in collaboration with University of Strathclyde and Fugro, where we developed a methodology for a Digital Twin for Floating Offshore Wind Turbines.

Attending the event on behalf of AS Mosley, was Callum Methven (pictured), Principal Analysis Engineer, Andrew Mosley (pictured), Director, Eileen Cooper, Marketing Consultant of Limetree, and her husband, Andrew Cooper of Andrew Cooper Golf.

Andrew Mosley, Director at AS Mosley said: “This is fantastic news! We’re delighted to be recognised for the our innovative WellScreen tool, as well as our digital twin work.  WellScreen has taken over five years to get it to where it is today and it’s having a huge impact on our industry and literally saving operators hundreds of thousands of pounds. We are grateful to our clients, for giving us the inspiration and motivation to develop WellScreen. Thanks also goes to our Digital Twin partners and, of course, our staff and dedicated team of expert engineers, who have made this success possible.”

AS Mosley will go on to represent Scotland in the UK Final on 18th May 2023.

What is a Jackup Riser System?

A Jackup Riser System is predominately used on Jackup rigs. The system serves as a conduit, connecting the wellhead on the seafloor to the Jackup rig. The Riser System facilitates containment of the drilling fluids, well control, and in some cases production fluids.
